Who will win: THE ARTIST
Who should win: I won’t be too upset of THE ARTIST wins, but either THE TREE OF LIFE or HUGO should be the winner here. In my perfect. world.
Best Actor
Who will win: I keep hearing that Jean Dujardin is the big favorite here, but I’ll go with George Clooney
Who should win: Brad Pitt for MONEYBALL. He’s fantastic in it, straight up.
Best Actress
Who will win: Look out Meryl Streep, Viola Davis is coming up on your tail!
Who should win: I’ve only see one of the movies with a nominee and Rooney Mara isn’t going to win. I just hope Meryl Streep doesn’t win. Or Glenn Close.
Best Supporting Actor
Who will win: Not Jonah Hill. I pick Kenneth Branagh.
Who should win: Jonah Hill, because it would be awesome.
Best Supporting Actress
Who will win: Octavia Spencer. The white Academy wants to do its part in beating racism.
Who should win: Again, I’ve only seen one of the movies with nominees and Berenice Bejo shouldn’t win. Give it to Jessica Chastain, but not for this movie.
Best Director
Who will win: Hazanavicius, if THE ARTIST wins, which it will.
Who should win: Finally, a category in which I’ve seen all the nominees. Malick all the way. Nahgunnahappen, though.
Best Original Screenplay
Who will win: A SEPARATION (see below). Who will actually win: MIDNIGHT IN PARIS.
Who should win: Not even going to play this game. A SEPARATION should win and nothing else should come close. I always have one category where I’ll pissed that the clear winner doesn’t win. This is going to be it.
Best Adapted Screenplay
Who will win: THE DESCENDANTS, which is not such a bad thing because that means Dean Pelton from Community will be an Oscar winner.
Who should win: MONEYBALL. They turned a book about numbers and stats and booorrrinng into a very engaging, very entertaining film. Even for people who don’t give a shit about baseball!
Best Animated Feature
Who will win: RANGO
Who should win: Didn’t see a single one of these. Don’t care.
Best Foreign Language Film
Who will win: Who knows. Honestly, these are always up in the air. But the one I want to win never wins.
Who should win: A SEPARATION times a million.
